Inflammatory breast carcinoma in a dog: a case report

Inflammatory Mammary Carcinoma is a malignant neoplasm characterized by its aggressiveness and rarity. It affects approximately 7.6% of female dogs, generally in older age, without a defined racial predisposition. Its etiology may be associated with environmental, hormonal, chemical, viral, radioactive, and congenital factors. Predisposing factors include the use of contraceptives and the occurrence of pseudopregnancy. Clinically, it manifests as severe pain, skin thickening, local hyperthermia, erythema, axillary and inguinal lymphadenopathy, ulceration with purulent discharge, weakness, and anorexia. Diagnosis is performed through cytopathological and histopathological examinations. Treatment may involve chemotherapeutic protocols combined with supportive therapy or merely palliative care. Spaying is the primary preventive measure, and the prognosis is extremely poor. This study aimed to document and analyze a case of inflammatory mammary carcinoma in a Dobermann female patient, detailing the diagnostic methods and therapeutic strategies employed.
