Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is widely used in the management of acute respiratory failure in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), and its success depends on technical knowledge and multiprofessional practice. This study aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge regarding NIV among health professionals working in ICUs of a public hospital in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. This was a cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive study conducted with 41 professionals using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test (p<0.05). The results demonstrated significant differences among professional categories regarding NIV performance, perceived ability to indicate and apply the technique, use of clinical indices, and professional updating, with better performance observed among physiotherapists. It is concluded that relevant knowledge gaps regarding NIV exist among nurses and physicians, highlighting the need to strengthen multiprofessional work and continuing education to optimize clinical outcomes and ensure patient safety in critical care settings.
