The importance of health education provided by nurses in promoting the self-esteem of adult women aged 20–59 with Uterine Prolapse (UP)

The study analyzes the importance of health education conducted by nurses in promoting the self-esteem of adult women with uterine prolapse (UP). This is an integrative literature review, with searches carried out in the SciELO, LILACS, BVS, and Google Scholar databases, considering publications between 2019 and 2025. Uterine prolapse is a gynecological condition characterized by the displacement of the uterus due to weakening of the pelvic floor, which may cause significant physical, emotional, and social impacts. Among the main effects are low self-esteem, changes in body image, difficulties in sexual life, and social isolation. In this context, the role of nurses through health education becomes essential to provide guidance, support, and promote self-care. Educational strategies, such as clear communication, pelvic floor exercise training, and continuous follow-up, contribute to women’s empowerment and greater adherence to treatment. The results indicate that health education strengthens women’s autonomy and improves their quality of life. It is concluded that nurses play an essential role in comprehensive care by integrating clinical, educational, and psychosocial actions in coping with uterine prolapse.
