Public education and regional development policies on the southern coast of São Paulo: limits of continuous progression and territorial challenges

Abstract

This article analyzes the correlation between public education policies and the regional development process on the Southern Coast of São Paulo. The region, comprising municipalities such as Itanhaém, Peruíbe, and Mongaguá, presents a scenario of contrasts between environmental preservation and social vulnerability. Through a qualitative bibliographic review, it investigates how educational management can act as a vector for reducing inequalities. The impact of programs such as continuous progression and the need for adequate infrastructure are discussed. The results indicate that regional development depends on education integrated with local vocations, such as sustainable tourism and environmental preservation.
